Our Team - the 2023 festival organisers so far…

Shropshire Love Nature Festival is run largely by community volunteers, sharing a broad skill set and lots of enthusiasm for both Shropshire Nature and for bringing this festival to you each year.

If you’d like to come join us for our 2023 festival get in touch and we’ll be happy to explore ways you can get involved.

  • LIZ KNOWLES

    Festival Founder

Liz has been involved since the Festival’s inception, inviting participants, and helping to publicise events. She has been passionate about the natural world since childhood, an enthusiastic gardener for wildlife, bird watcher, traveller and mountain climber. Liz is also Chair of the Pontesbury Climate Emergency Action Group, and a founder member of Zero Carbon Shropshire.

  • PAUL NEWMAN

    Festival Volunteer

Paul joined the team last year and helps keep us all aligned and making the festival a success for everyone involved.

Paul is a champion for social enterprise and ‘buying local’. His business, ‘Be a Better Fish’, based in Oswestry, helps create and support many local community ventures; particularly those offering local food produce, wellbeing or outdoor/nature activities. Paul is exploring and studying ‘Nature Connectedness’ to help his clients and partners make more of their green spaces.

  • NANCY LOWE

    Festival Volunteer

Nancy Lowe brings her writing, communication and organisational skills to the team, along with a big dose of enthusiasm and a background in nature related work and study. Nancy has had a lifelong interest in all things nature related, having grown up here in Shropshire. Outside of helping the SLNF team, she works as an organic and wildlife friendly gardener and garden designer. She also manages the Shropshire Nature Gardens project, helping Shropshire residents create thriving wildlife gardens as part of our local nature recovery network.

  • TINA TEEARU

    CHIEF TWEETER

I've worked in the past as an ecologist and as a local magazine editor but I'm now semi-retired and keen to return to my first love - admiring, protecting and raising awareness of the beautiful natural world we live in. As part of Zero Carbon Shropshire's Communications & Engagement Team I put together the monthly members' newsletter, update the website and curate their Facebook page and Twitter feed. I'm really pleased to be on board with SLNF this year as Chief Tweeter @shroplovenature

  • RUTH MARTIN

    MARKETING

This year Ruth and her marketing team are joining the festival to help make sure as many people know about the festival as possible. They’ll be heading up the communications and helping to share as much information as possible about how we can protect our precious wildlife.

‘Growing up in Shropshire it’s hard not to be amazed at the beauty and diversity of nature around us. That’s why I’m lending mine and my teams marketing skills to festival’
